The win for the Stoughton team from the Charleswood Curling Club sends it to the Ford World men’s curling championship, April 2-10 at Regina, SK.

The 47-year-old Stoughton won his first Canadian title in 1996 at Kamloops, B,C., and repeated the feat at Edmonton in 1999.

He skipped a world champion in 1996 at Hamilton but lost the world final to Scotland’s Hammy McMillan in 1999 at Saint John, N.B.

Howard’s defeat was his fourth in a Brier final in the past six years.
