Canadian Curling Association announces recruitment process for Board Members

The Canadian Curling Association (CCA) has announced the recruitment process for the nomination and election of future members to its Board of Governors. While a candidate must be nominated by a CCA Member Association, the person does not necessarily require previous experience nor have a long-term association with any of the 14 provincial/territorial Member Associations. The CCA Board consists of five men and five women. The election of one male and one female Governor for a five-year term will take place in Ottawa on June 18 during the 2011 National Curling Congress (NCC), slated for 2:00 pm. Any elected Governor must be at least eighteen years of age and have the capacity under law to contract. The primary responsibility of the 10-member CCA Board of Governors is to ensure that the necessary programs and resources are established to develop the sport of curling in Canada. The Board fulfills these responsibilities by formulating and adopting policies, by ensuring that these policies are implemented by the CCA CEO and professional staff and by evaluating the results of those policies. In addition, the Board carries out its functions openly, seeking the involvement and participation of its members, corporate partners and staff. Interested persons may obtain further information regarding the Canadian Curling Association’s Board of Governors by contacting the CCA’s national office (1-613-834-2076 ext. 117) or by visiting www.curling.ca under the “About the Organization” tab. Candidates wishing to have their nomination, profile and photo included in the official National Curling Congress packages that are sent out to all voting delegates are to have their Member Association submit such information to [email protected] by April 25.
