The World is On the Way to Canada!

Team World will be coming to the 2012 World Financial Group Continental Cup of Curling – Jan 12 – 15 in the Langley Events Centre – with their sights set on avenging the loss to Team North America at last year’s competition.

Tom Brewster joins Team World for the 2012 Continental Cup

With the North Americans holding a 4-3 edge in championship titles since the inception of the event in 2002, the World contingent features a host of seasoned competitors with considerable experience on the international curling stage.

Scotland’s Tom Brewster leads the way after a strong showing at the 2011 Ford World Men’s Curling Championship in Regina.  The Scots went all the way to the gold medal game, losing in the final match to Canada’s Jeff Stoughton.

They’ll be joined by the Thomas Ulsrud team from Norway, silver medalists at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and the 2010 Capital One World Men’s Curling Championship.

The exciting young Swedish team skipped by Niklas Edin, bronze medal winners at last year’s Ford World Men’s Curling Championship, will complete the male side of the Team World roster.

Annette Norberg playing for the gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics

Sweden’s Annette Norberg, a perennial favourite in international competition, will be in Langley with the team that captured the gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics and the 2011 Capital One World Women’s Curling Championship.

The Chinese squad led by Bingya Wang will be returning to the Continental Cup after winning gold in the 2009 World Women’s Championship and bronze at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The women’s side is rounded out by Scotland’s Eve Muirhead, four-time winner of the World Junior Curling Championships and silver medalist at the 2010 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship in Swift Current.

The stage is set for one of the most memorable battles in the history of international curling.  Make sure you don’t miss a moment of the action – full event passes are available now just by clicking here.
