Big Whoops in Lethbridge!

Make no mistake about it… Lethbridge Whoop-Up Days is the biggest event on the city’s summer schedule.   And the promotions team for the 2012 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship was right in the middle of all the action.

The annual festival – running August 23rd to 27th – got off to a hot start at the Whoop-Up Days parade with volunteers joining media partners CJOC FM and Country 95.5 radio for the march along 3rd Avenue South.  In spite of stifling temperatures, enthusiastic crowds were waiting all along the route. The FWWCC booth was on site at the fairgrounds for the big celebration – which includes a marketplace, children’s activities, farmer’s market, petting zoo, RV show, midway rides and professional rodeo.  A major drawing card was the opportunity to enter the free draw for a Double Impact “Opener” package with two tickets to the first 11 draws. On the same day as the parade, volunteers were also set up at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization Family Festival, entertaining the kids with the Kurling game.  In the summer heat, it’s a great way to take a shot at the coolest game going! The real thing is coming to the ENMAX Centre March 17th – 25th when the best women curlers in the world take to the ice.  Tickets are available now by clicking here.
