With the M&M Meat Shops Canadian Juniors now less than 4 months away, the Napanee & District Curling Club is already in championship form.

The final nail has been driven in an extensive renovation project in the lounge, the most popular spot in town to watch and talk curling.  The changes at the club didn’t consist of merely a fresh coat of paint, but included a complete gutting and rebuild – including the kitchen – giving the facility a brand new look and feel. The ice is in, complete with all the championship logos from the Canadian Curling Association.  The ice makers at the club always take great pride in their work, but the added pressure of a Canadian Championship gave them even more incentive to make great ice. Mission accomplished according to many, as the general consensus is the ice is the as good as – or better than – it’s ever been since the facility opened in 1961. Members are already two weeks into their curling season, and are looking forward to the 9-day break when Canada’s best junior curlers come to town from February 4-12.
