Here’s to the Volunteers for the 2012 Scotties!

Excitement is building throughout Central Alberta as Red Deer prepares to host the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, February 18 – 26 at Westerner Park.  And, that includes the volunteers who will be working behind the scenes at one of championship curling’s biggest events of the season.

An enthusiastic crew of volunteers gathered November 1st for the first major briefing leading up to the competition.  More than 80 percent were on hand to receive their marching orders for Canada’s national women’s curling championship…. including some recruits that came all the way from Ontario. Along with a review of individual assignments from Scotties directors, volunteers were sized for official uniforms and posed for accreditation photos.  Host Committee Chair Sherri Ryckman was there to thank everyone for dedicating so much time and energy to ensure 2012 goes down as the number one in Scotties history. The ongoing support of event sponsors contributed greatly to the success of the rally.  Through the donation of products, coupons and prizes they were instrumental in making it a memorable day for all the volunteers. “You Gotta Be There” when the Scotties returns to Red Deer.  Just click here to get your tickets now.
