The Action’s Underway for the Canada Cup of Curling

The countdown is on for the 2011 Capital One Canada Cup, November 30 – December 4 in the Cranbrook Rec Plex.  But, for members of the Cranbrook and Kimberley curling clubs, the battle has already started in the Cool Shots Club Competition!

Cool Shots is the small-scale version of the roaring game, played on shuffleboard-style tables – a perennial fan favourite at Season of Champions events. This year the Canada Cup has introduced a weekly Cool Shots club challenge that runs until November 25th. Sixteen players are facing off each week in both clubs with the winners advancing to the playdowns.  The top eight shooters will move on to represent their clubs and compete for the title of Grand Champion in the Patch on Thursday December 1st. Cranbrook playdowns will be held Saturday, November 12, 19 and 26 at noon, and the Kimberley curlers will play Thursday, November 10, 17 and 24 at 9:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. for the seniors league. There’s no cost to enter and a whole lot on the line… including cash prizes for the players and their home clubs: • $200 for the eight semi-finalists • $400 for the champion and $2,000 to their club • a Cool Shots table plus $500 to the clubs in appreciation for hosting the promotion “You Gotta Be There” to see who comes out on top in the Cool Shots competition – and experience the excitement when the hottest shots in the game light up the Rec Plex!  Get your tickets just by clicking here.
