Beginning today: The Dominion Curling Club Championships

Today kicks-off The Dominion Curling Club Championship, a week-long national curling event presented by The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company (The Dominion). The event, now in its third year is taking place at the Richmond Curling Club in Richmond, British Columbia from November 21st to 26th.

The event is the ultimate experience for club curlers. Men’s and women’s teams from each of Canada’s provinces and territories come to play each year in round robin competition, all vying for the honour of being named 2011 Canadian Curling Club Champions. The teams’ places in the event are already hard-won, with each rink having taken home the championship at their provincial or territorial playdowns. Richmond Mayor, Malcolm Brodie will join in the Opening Ceremonies on Tuesday evening to officially welcome all competitors and volunteers. Also on hand for the week-long event will be 2010 Paralympic Gold Medalist curler, Sonja Gaudet and 2010 Canadian Olympic Curling Coach, Jim Waite.
