The First Shots are Free for Scotties Fans

Ford Hot Shots has gone hand-in-hand with Season of Champions events for the past 18 years… and the tradition continues at the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts when the best women’s curlers in the country gather in Red Deer. Admission is free for the preliminary round Friday, February 17 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm when all Scotties competitors take part in the skills competition.  Each one faces six shots: Hit and Stay, Draw the Button, Draw the Port, The Raise, Hit and Roll and Double Takeout.

Eight players will qualify for the final eight with the winner to be decided in the playoffs Saturday, February 18 starting at 11:00 am following the Opening Ceremonies.  An opening draw ticket will be required for fans to attend.  Ford of Canada will present the winner with a two-year lease on a 2012 Ford Focus Titanium, an approximate retail value of $13,000, while the runner-up receives a cheque for $2,000 and the third-place finisher takes home $1,000. Defending Hot Shots champion Jennifer Jones will be back to defend the title she earned at the 2011 Scotties, as will Amber Holland who finished on top the previous year. Jones will be shooting to join Kelley Law as the only two back-to-back Ford Hot Shots champions.  Law was the winner in both 2000 and 2001. “You Gotta Be There” for Ford Hot Shots at the Scotties – as well as the entire week of action when Canada’s best compete for the national title, February 18-26 at Red Deer’s Westerner Park.  Get your tickets now by clicking here.
