In the Early Morning Rain

As the subject indicates, this draw was one of four today and started at 0800. Thanks to the Best Western host hotel, breakfast for the 12 teams involved in this first of four draws today was ready at 0600.

On the women’s side of the draw, Alberta (Cathy King) remained as the sole unbeaten team moving her record to 4-0 with a solid 11-5 decision over the team from Quebec (Odette Trudel 1-3).

In other action involving women’s teams, the defending champions from New Brunswick (Heidi Hanlon 1-3) continue to struggle losing 8-3 to a surging Nova Scotia foursome skipped by Nancy Delahunt moving their w/l record to 3-1.

In the remaining women’s tilt, Cathy Cunningham’s quartet from the Re/Max Centre (3-1) in St. John’s, NL knocked Team Ontario (Nancy Harrison) from the ranks of the undefeated with a 8-6 verdict leaving Ontario a game back in the loss column at 3-1.

In men’s play, the Buckingham C. C. (QC) foursome skipped by Pierre Charette got their train back onto the tracks with a solid performance outlasting Team Northern Ontario (Rob Gordon) 7-2 evening their records at 2-2.

The New Brunswick men (Mark Armstrong 1-2) found out why Kelly Roberson’s team are the defending men’s champions. The buffaloes scored first and never looked back posting a 10-5 victory.

In the remaining men’s game, a last rock draw to the four foot by Brian Windsor of Team BC secured the win over another former senior men’s champion from Saskatchewan by a 6-5 count. BC moves to 3-1 while SK falls to 1-3. At the time of Windsor’s last shot draw, Team SK had the lead by one but BC had a counter already in the four foot. An attempted guard by SK skip Eugene Hritzuk clipped another guard opening the path for Windsor.
