Tim Hortons Brier Volunteers Take Curling to the Greens

The Tim Hortons Brier tent and giant inflatable curling rock were on the scene at the annual CISN and RedTail Landing Community Golf Classic August 27 along with the promotions team letting everyone know the curling classic is coming back to Edmonton next spring.

The volunteers played host to a putting challenge that proved to be a popular feature for the 150 golfers taking part in the charity tournament.  It came with a unique twist – competitors had to leave their putters in the bag and put the ball in the hole using a curling broom. With the fall season fast approaching, the Paint the Town and Community Events volunteers have a full schedule in the works to ramp up the excitement for the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier, March 2-10 in Edmonton’s Rexall Place. It includes visits to curling clubs throughout the community, appearances at the Edmonton Downtown Farmer’s Market as well as the World Curling Tour Shoot-Out taking place September 13-16 at the Saville Sports Centre. Planning is also underway for the Tankard Tour when one of the most legendary trophies in Canadian sporting history will be on display at Tim Hortons outlets around the city. And, of course, fall means the start of a new school term.  Students at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology will be welcomed back to class with promotional materials courtesy of media partner Rogers Radio. The recruitment drive for Brier volunteers continues with positions available in a wide range of roles including security, ice and arena maintenance, program sales and hospitality in the Patch.  Applicants can register online by clicking here. “You Gotta Be There” when the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier delivers all the excitement of championship curling at its very best.  Full Event passes are on sale now – click here to purchase yours today.
