The question of who makes the jaunt will be answered in provincial play, January 21-27 at the KW Granite Curling Club in Kitchener. Four names in the field that come into the competition with experience on the national stage are Krista McCarville, Tracy Horgan, Rachel Homan and Sherry Middaugh.

Right next door to the east, the Scotties representative for la belle provence will be decided January 23-27 in Victoriaville where six-time Quebec champion Marie-France Larouche is the favourite heading into the competition.  Allison Ross, runner-up to Larouche in last year’s final, will be back along with Eve Bélisle, who competed for Quebec in the 2006 and 2010 Scotties.

At the same time, the Manitoba berth will be contested in Stonewall.  Four-time Scotties winner Jennifer Jones leads the way with her sights set on a tenth appearance at the national championship.  Her former third Cathy-Overton Clapham, who has five Scotties titles on her resume, will be also be there – as will Chelsea Carey, provincial finalist the past two years.

All the results from playdowns throughout the country will be featured on the Scotties Tournament of Hearts website.
