One last chance to qualify for Cool Shots at the Brier

The Cool Shots public playdown, leading up to next week’s Tim Hortons Brier, takes place Feb. 23 at the Newcap Stage in the West Edmonton Mall. Everyone’s welcome to enter – and the winning team will advance to the Club Cool Shots Championship in The Original 16 Patch. It’s all part of the celebrations for the Canadian Men’s Curling Championship, March 2-10 in Edmonton’s Rexall Place. Two-player teams will shoot for a trip to the Brier, facing off on the shuffleboard-style Cool Shot tables that come with more curl than the athletes will encounter all week long on the ice in Rexall Place. The competition begins at 11 a.m. and continues to 4 p.m. when the winning team will be crowned. They’ll join the field of previous qualifiers from Cool Shots play at the Crestwood, Ellerslie, Granite and Thistle curling clubs for the big showdown, March 2 in the Patch. The finalists will play for a $500 cash prize and $2,000 they can designate to the curling club of their choice. So, come on out to the West Edmonton Mall and take your best shot at the cash.  It’s free to enter, and fun to play! “You Gotta Be There” for the 2013 Tim Horton Brier – featuring the hottest shots in curling at Rexall Place, and some really cool shots in the Patch.
