Drozdov played third on the Alexey Tselousov foursome that won the ‘B’ pool, earning the right to take on Thomas Dufour of France – who placed eighth in the ‘A’ pool – in a best-of-three World Challenge playoff. Dufour prevailed in the series to secure the final berth in the 2012 world championship. But, the ‘B’ pool gold medal moved Russia up to the top group of the 2012 European Curling Championships in Karlstad, Sweden. With Drozdov taking on skip duties, the Russian squad took advantage of the opportunity, finishing in fifth position to lock up a trip to Victoria. Drozdov will be making his first appearance at the world championship with the support of Alexey Stukalskiy, Tselousov and Petr Dron. “You Gotta Be There” when the top curlers in the game compete for the world title at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria.
