Young Danes on the rise

Rasmus Stjerne made his name on the international scene with a victory over Team Canada’s Brett Gallant in the final of the 2009 World Junior Men’s Curling Championship, held in Vancouver as a test event for the 2010 Olympics.

The young skip, at the age of just 24, will be representing Denmark at the 2013 Ford World Men’s Curling Championship, presented by Booster Juice, March 30-April 7 in Victoria. Along with teammates Johnny Frederiksen, Mikkel Adrup Poulsen and Troels Harry, he will be wearing Danish colours at the world championship for a second-straight year. Stjerne moved on from the junior ranks to compete for Denmark the past three years at the European Curling Championships, winning a silver medal in 2010 and bronze in 2011. After finishing the round robin in a tie with Thomas Ulsrud at the 2012 European competition, he lost to the Norwegians in the 3 vs. 4 Page playoff game, and to Jiřί Snitίl of the Czech Republic in the bronze-medal match. “You Gotta Be There” in the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for the 2013 Ford World Men’s Curling Championship.
