Mondetta outfitting Canadian curling teams in Sochi
Canada’s curling teams will play for gold in Sochi beginning next week wearing the latest in uniform technology.
The Canadian sportswear company Mondetta Clothing, based in Winnipeg, has once again designed and manufactured the uniforms for the Canadian teams to compete in curling’s biggest event.
“Mondetta has done a wonderful job preparing these uniforms,” said Team Canada women’s skip Jennifer Jones. “They look good and feel great, and it will be an absolute thrill to wear them in Sochi.”
Added Team Canada men’s skip Brad Jacobs: “The Mondetta uniforms aren’t only functional, but the have a nice look to them as well. I was blown away when I opened up the package, and I can’t wait to wear them on the ice.”
“It’s always an honour to wear the Maple Leaf on the international stage,” said Canadian wheelchair team skip Jim Armstrong. “Knowing the work that Mondetta put into these uniforms to make sure they not only function at a high level but also look terrific to the viewer, I can’t wait to put them on for the competition.”
Team Canada will have three different uniforms — predominantly white, predominantly red and predominantly black and grey (click here for a document showing all of the designs). All will feature the traditional Maple Leaf on the back, as well as over the player’s heart and along both sleeves. The full kit consists of a jacket, long-sleeve shirt, short-sleeve shirt, pants and socks, all manufactured with the focus of not only looking good but also providing the athletes with the most advantages in terms keeping them dry and comfortable on the ice, using the latest technology in the fabric design.
“Creating the uniforms for the Canadian Curling National Teams competing in Sochi not only filled us with a sense of pride but also provided a terrific opportunity to apply our extensive experience of designing and manufacturing technically advanced athletic apparel for athletes at the apex of their sport,” said Tony Lavilla, Branding Director for Mondetta. “Our main objective was to provide uniforms that would help the teams achieve their very best but also fill them with a sense of national pride as they appear on the world stage to represent Canada.
