Ulsrud adds extra flair to Vegas curling classic
- Updated: December 9, 2013
Norway’s men’s curling team made a major fashion statement at the 2010 Winter Olympics. After hitting the ice wearing very unorthodox pants, images of the Thomas Ulsrud squad appeared in newspapers and television broadcasts around the world.
But the Norwegian curlers were more than a flash-in-the-pan when it came to their play in the Olympic competition. In fact they took home the silver medal, losing to Canada’s Kevin Martin in the championship final. And foursome will be back to represent the country once again in Sochi.
The Ulsrud team, including Torger Nergård, Christoffer Svae and Håvard Vad Petersson, will also be part of the Team World roster that will face Team North America at the 2014 World Financial Group Continental Cup, Jan. 16-19 in the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
Ulsrud’s 2010 Olympic silver represents just one of numerous achievements in international competition. He has appeared at the world men’s curling championship nine times, winning three bronze medals, and has earned two gold, four silver and two bronze at the European Curling Championships.
