Calling all volunteers for the Montreal Scotties
- Updated: August 8, 2013
The 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts is coming to Montreal, Feb. 1-9 at the Maurice-Richard Arena. With the Canadian women’s curling championship just six months away, the Host Committee is ramping up its efforts to recruit the volunteers that mean so much to the success of one of curling’s most prestigious events.
Ever since last February’s announcement that the Scotties would be coming to Montreal, volunteers have been signing up to be part of the first national women’s championship to be held in the city in more than three decades.
When the best teams in the game hit the ice for the Scotties, it will take a volunteer force of more than 500 to host the athletes, as well as the thousands of fans expected to attend from across the country,
The first volunteer rally is scheduled to take place next month and Vice-Chairs Kevin Alladin, Catherine Hughes and Francine Poisson have been working hard this summer to fill the house for the orientation session.
Positions are available on a number of key committees such as the 50/50 draws that will raise funds for local curling initiatives, as well as positions in banking and bar services – offering all the fun of the HeartStop Lounge – and Community Events and Paint the Town, the team that will be out in the community this fall promoting the big event.
Other critical areas are Information Services and Ambassadors and Decorations, the people who will be helping visitors make the most of their Scotties experience in beautiful Montreal.
