The third jewel in what has come to be known as the Alberta Triple Crown is the 2014 Canada Cup, heading to Camrose in December.

The WFG Continental Cup will be contested at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park, Jan. 8-11 and the Tim Hortons Brier will take place Feb. 28 to March 8 in the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Volunteers for the two Calgary events attended the June 25 pre-tournament dinner for the Canada Sports Hall of Fame Greatest Sports Heroes Golf Tournament. Participants had the opportunity to test their skills in street curling – throwing stones on a simulated ice surface – and pick up an assortment of curling swag.

The promotional drive moved to Stephen Ave. in downtown Calgary the following day where volunteers were on the scene to hand out giveaways and pass on event information.

On June 27 a small-scale Brier Patch was set up at Willow Park Golf and Country Club during ‘Into the Kitchen of the Minds’, a nine-hole tournament and social gathering. The golfers had the chance to take in music and entertainment, along with a shot at street curling.

A variety of volunteer positions are still open for both events. If you’re interested in taking part, register online by clicking here.
