Brief Description of Volunteer Assignments
Arena, Rocks & Ice: Responsibilities will include ice preparation and maintenance of curling ice. This position will begin several days prior to opening draw and continue throughout the event.
Communications: Volunteers will assist in fulfilling communication and hardware requirements needed throughout the event and will help with communications technology.
Signage: Volunteers will be responsible for installation and maintenance of event signage.
Construction: This position will begin several days prior to opening draw. Some heavy lifting is required.
Media Room: Volunteers will assist the media covering the event.
Accreditation & Event Services: Accreditation volunteers will be responsible for printing, distribution and control of accreditation badges. Event Services will monitor access points as assigned. Position may require long standing hours.
Official, Stats & Timers: Volunteers will assist with statistics and timing involved in draws. Training will be provided.
Banking: Banking volunteers will be required to assist in cash management, token selling and balancing funds.
Bar Services, HeartStop Volunteers: Volunteers will provide bar services in the HeartStop. This position is in a fast paced environment and requires long hours standing.
Bar Services: Volunteers will assist with the stocking of bar supplies and inventory counts at night. Some lifting and carrying required.
Lounges: Volunteers will aid in the support of all lounge areas and will be responsible for stocking supplies throughout the event.
Team Services and Transportation: Volunteers will assist in transportation needs of VIP guests and special events. They will also be responsible for driving vehicles provided by the event sponsor. Volunteers must provide driving abstracts and work shifts.
Info Booth and Ambassadors: Volunteers will provide information regarding the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, tourist attractions and other applicable event information. Shifts may include providing information on shuttle busses.
Medical Services: Volunteers will assist with medical services required by the athletes.
Paint the Town and Community Events: Volunteers will assist with event promotion throughout the months leading up to the event. Some weekend and evening shifts are expected.
Fantastic: Volunteers are required to plan and host a variety of events for the general public that augment the event. Volunteers will also manage Junior Stars.
Volunteers & Souvenir Merchandise: Volunteers will assist in the order and distribution of volunteer uniforms and assist in on-site sales of event merchandise.
50/50: Volunteers are required to sell and promote 50/50 tickets.
Banquets: Volunteers will assist the director in planning and preparations involved in the opening banquet.
Decorations: Volunteers will assist in planning and preparations involved in decorating requirements. Work is pre-event.
Ceremonies: Volunteers will assist the director with planning and preparation involved in opening, closing and daily ceremonies.
Ushers and Ticket Takers: Volunteers will scan tickets and assist the public in finding their seats. Standing is involved.
Program Sales: Volunteers will be responsible for program sales in the arena.
