Wayne Tallon Alone In First

Wayne Tallon’s Fredericton, NB foursome is now alone in first place at the 2013 Canadian Senior Men’s Championship at the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club in Summerside, PEI. Tallon’s record is now 6-1. In this afternoon’s draw, Tallon led 6-1 after four ends coasting to a 9-3 win over NWT’s Glen Hudy. The Yellowknife team remains winless at 0-7. Ontario’s Howard Rajala fell from that first place tie losing 8-6 in an extra end to Alberta’s Wade White, while the final game on the ice had Nova Scotia’s Alan O’Leary stopping Glen Goss of St. John’s, NL 10-8.  White, Rajala, O’Leary and the host province’s Rod MacDonald all stand at 5-2, one game behind Tallon. PEI’s Nola Murphy recorded her first win of the tournament by virtue of scoring four points in the 9th end to win 10-6 over NWT’s McKellar-Gillis. PEI is 1-6 while the NWT remains at 2-5. Second place belongs to Manitoba’s Lois Fowler despite losing 8-6 to BC’s Karen Lepine. Fowler is 5-2 now tied with Catherine Derick of Québec. BC improves to 3-4. The final game featured a surging Cathy Inglis of Yorkton, SK who now has won four games in a row to bring her record to 4-3. She made short work of Northern Ontario’s Vicky Barrett 8-2.
