Three Days Away!!! Prince George Here They Come!!

The long awaited first step of Olympic qualification for Canada’s Curling Team is almost here!  With only three days remaining the 24 teams involved in the Road to the Roar are getting set in their home towns ready to fly to Prince George on Sunday or Monday. The viewers at home have two great options to watch this event with CurlTV and TSN working together.  CurlTV will be showing a number of draws from the beginning of the event with TSN showing the A Finals, B Finals and C Semis. To refresh your memories the event in P.G. is a 12 team triple knock-out event – one A event winner, one B event winner and two C event winners.  It’s a unique event for curling because normally the only way in a bonspiel to go home early is to lose three straight; that is still a possibility in P.G. however you could also go home early if you win three straight games!  The four winning rinks will go onto the Roar of the Rings, the trials that lead to the Olympics, in Edmonton three weeks later. There are a number of teams that have faired well so far this season, however I still believe it is truly up in the air – for both sides of the draw.  I will be in PG on Sunday night getting ready to help out the teams in their pre-event practices!!  This year the CCA has allowed the use of electronic timers to help match rocks in the pre-event and evening practices.  With the resident timer expert being myself…..on the ice I go! I will ensure I blog continually throughout the day and night while in PG.  We have confirmed that there is wireless in the arena so I can even do some realtime updates!  Stay tuned.
