The Moose May Run Loose in Cranbrook

One of the unique Brier experiences is the sound of moose calls coming out of the stands from antler-clad Northern Ontario fans.  You might just witness it this year in the Cranbrook Rec Plex when the Brad Jacobs team competes in the 2011 Canada Cup.

After an impressive start at the national junior level, Jacobs got his first taste of the big leagues when he was recruited by Al Harnden to throw last rocks at the 2007 Tim Hortons Brier in Winnipeg.  The next year he formed his own team and qualified for the 2010 Brier, surprising many by taking bronze medals home to Sault Ste. Marie. Last season the Jacobs crew played their way back to the Brier with a remarkable victory in the Northern Ontario final.  Down 6 – 2 with just two ends to go, they took two in nine with the hammer and stole three coming home for the trip to London, where they finished just one win short of the playoffs. Based on Canadian Team Ranking System points, Jacobs will be leading E.J. Harnden, Ryan Harnden and Scott Seabrook into Cranbrook for the 2011 Canada Cup.
