The Schraders also earned a spot in the grand championship to be contested in the HeartStop Lounge presented by Original 16 on opening day Saturday, February 18 – with a $1,000 cash prize waiting for the winners and $5,000 for their home club. They’ll be joined by Frank MacKay and Larry Marshall, Pius and Lorene Donhauser, and Marshall and Jen Wood who also qualified in the Innisfail event. A total of 60 teams from the Red Deer region took part in the competition.  And, with a pair of Full Event passes awarded for every 15 teams registered, the Innisfail club received eight ticket packages for all 22 draws of the Canadian women’s curling championship. The Cool Shots game was such a hit, the club held onto the tables over the weekend to raise funds for the Sandra Schmirler Foundation during their annual ladies bonspiel. Another four spots for the championship will be decided in the second stage of competition coming up at the Red Deer Curling Centre.  Qualifying rounds take place February 6-9 and the finals hit the boards February 10.  Register online at reddeercurling.ca or phone 403-346-3777. “You Gotta Be There” for the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, February 18 – 26 at Red Deer’s Westerner Park – where the competition will be intense both on the ice and the Cool Shots tables in the HeartStop Lounge.  Get your seats now just by clicking here.
