A FANtastic Week is in the Works for the Brier
The headlines for the 2012 Tim Hortons Brier – March 3-11 at the Saskatoon Credit Union Centre – will unquestionably focus on the amazing display of curling compliments of Canada’s elite men’s teams.
But, anyone who has experienced live championship curling knows the attraction for fans extends far beyond the competition itself. The roaring game is without doubt the most fan-friendly in the sporting world!
Competitors and fans share a unique bond that grows stronger throughout the event with so many opportunities for face-to-face interaction… and they’re all included in the price of every event pass.
After the last draw, the curlers are typically part of the crowd in The Original 16 Patch. It’s the heart of the party where everyone gathers to enjoy the tasty selection of food and beverages and dance to the sounds of some of the best bands in the land.
Canadian rock icon Kim Mitchell heads the list with a 10:00 p.m. performance opening Saturday to kick off a week of outstanding entertainment featuring Method 2 Madness, the Boom Chucka Boys, March Hare Band, Longshot, the Mudmen and the Chevelles.
For a shot at your own championship title, sign up for Cool Shots in The Original 16 Patch – the tabletop version of the real game with cash prizes up for grabs.
The Purple Heart Lounge, a more relaxing environment for a bite and a beverage, is the setting for Team Autograph sessions Sunday through Thursday. Two different teams will take part in each with an all-team session scheduled for Saturday of championship weekend.
Plus, it’s home base for the popular Up Close and Personal interviews Saturday through Friday where the competitors sit down for a candid discussion with the fans, starting with former Saskatchewan Brier champions as special guests for the Saturday session.
