Vernon rocked the valley when it hosted the 2008 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship… and some of the same athletes will be on the rosters when Team North America takes on Team World in Penticton’s first major curling event. “Ticket packages have been carefully tailored to make sure fans have the opportunity to be there for the draws at the times that work best for their schedule,” noted Host Chair Kim Kirkham. The Old Classic includes the same seat guaranteed for all 11 draws for just $129.  The Double Impact package gives you the chance to experience twice the excitement in half the time with two tickets to five selected draws for $169. Team World’s decisive victory at the 2012 Continental Cup moved the two sides into a deadlock at four championships each since the inception of the event in 2002.  The intense rivalry will play out over the four days of competition, showcasing international curling’s elite in a unique team format. Three of the four Canadian teams have been decided with Kevin Martin and Jennifer Jones qualifying with wins at the 2011 Capital One Canada Cup and Heather Nedohin taking the 2012 Scotties title.  The final men’s spot will be awarded to the winner of the 2012 Tim Hortons Brier. Every full event pass to the Continental Cup comes with a host of value-added benefits starting with an invitation to Fan Appreciation Night – a meet-and-greet opportunity with the athletes the night before the competition gets underway. It also includes complimentary admission to the Patch.  After every draw, the after-party rocks with a great selection of live bands, food and beverages. It’s also home to the Team Autograph sessions and Up Close and Personal interviews featuring all the competitors. And, a new round of Cool Shots – the shuffleboard-style version of the roaring game – hits the tables in the Patch every day with cash prizes for the winners and the chance to compete in the playoffs on championship weekend. The Host Committee is also accepting applications for the 250 to 300 volunteer positions so important to ensuring the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup is the best ever in the history of the event.  Those interested can register online at:  https://www.curling.ca/championships/continentalcup/volunteer/ “You Gotta Be There” when the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup hits the Okanagan Valley!  Get the best seats in the house early just by clicking here.
