The 30th edition of the Subaru Ironman Canada competition will see more than 3,000 triathletes from around the world gather in Penticton August 26 to compete in a grueling test of athletic skills.
Volunteers for the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup will be there to man the Aid Station in the South Okanagan Events Centre and provide assistance to the athletes who face a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bicycle race and 42.2 km run to determine the Ironman of the year.
It takes 70 volunteers to meet the challenge and there’s still time to be part of the action for one of the most arduous sporting events in the world. Get on board by contacting December Foster at the World Financial Group Continental Cup event office by phone at 778-476-6063 or by email at email@example.com.
The volunteer call for one of international curling’s main events is still on… but not for long! The Host Committee has approximately 30 spots still available for a variety of positions during the championship including 50/50 tickets sales, security, accreditation, arena and ice maintenance and bar service for the party in the Patch.
“Our volunteers are the heart of the championship,” notes Host Committee Chair Kim Kirkham. “Without them, we simply wouldn’t be able to host the best curlers in the world here in Penticton. But, I guarantee, they’re going to cherish every moment of the experience… and they’ll have the chance meet with the biggest names in the game face-to-face.”
The $100 volunteer registration fee includes the official uniform, access to Fan Appreciation Night, the Opening Banquet or Volunteer Appreciation Banquet and all draws at the South Okanagan Events Centre throughout the competition.
