Sweden’s Edin Back to Defend the Cup
When Team World sealed the championship at the 2012 World Financial Group Continental Cup of Curling in Langley, the Swedish foursome skipped by Niklas Edin was right in the middle of the victory celebration.
It marked the fourth time the World side has taken the title, matching Team North America’s record in the eight-year history of the showdown that features the biggest names in the international game.
With the tie-breaker scheduled for Penticton, January 10-13, Edin is coming back to compete in the South Okanagan Events Centre along with Sebastian Kraupp, Fredrik Lindberg and Viktor Kjall for the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup.
Edin leads one of the most talented young teams on the world curling scene. After a fourth-place finish at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, the Swedes have remained at the top of the international rankings, winning bronze medals at the World Men’s Curling Championship the past two years.
