Edmonton’s Warming Up to the Coolest Game Around
The 2013 Tim Hortons Brier will be rolling into Edmonton, March 2-10 at Rexall Place where the hottest shooters in the country will compete for the Canadian Men’s Curling Championship.
But curling fans around the city will be getting an early taste of off-ice excitement when the Club Cool Shots Competition gets underway in the last week of November.
Cool Shots is the small-scale version of the big-time game played on shuffleboard-style tables… and it’s become the rage among fans at Season of Champions events right across the country!
The Club Cool Shots Competition leading up to the Brier kicks off at the Crestwood and Granite clubs November 23, four days later at the Thistle, and the Ellerslie Curling Club gets into the game November 29.
The competition is open to everyone – teams of two players can sign up for free at any one of the clubs where they’ll play three four-end games.
A public competition will be held February 23 at the West Edmonton Mall with the chance to win cash! The top four teams win tickets to opening day at the Brier and earn the right to compete in the Cool Shots showdown in The Original 16 Patch. A cheque for $2,000 will be presented to the host club of the championship team.
Daily Cool Shots competitions for the fans will be also be taking place in the Patch during Brier week.
The Host Committee still has openings for 10 volunteers – register online by clicking here.
