The celebration for one of the most prestigious events on the international curling schedule kicks off Friday, March 29 with Fan Appreciation Night in The Original 16 Patch, right next door to the arena in the Victoria Curling Centre. The exclusive gathering for full event pass holders includes the opportunity to meet with the athletes that will be entertaining fans all week on the ice – and, dance to the sounds of the Timebenders, the opening act of a daily lineup of bands that will be rocking the party in the Patch. The pageantry of the competition unfolds at the official opening ceremony – Saturday, March 30 at 11:30 a.m. – leading up to the 2 p.m. draw when the quest for the world title gets underway. During every day of the action at the Ford World Men’s Curling Championship your same-day ticket, priced from just $20, includes complimentary admission to the Patch. Canadian curling’s legendary party place is where you can meet with fellow fans, and the best curlers in the game, to enjoy a beverage and a bite, and rock the night away with some amazing bands. It’s also home to Up Close and Personal interviews for the chance to join in on a casual conversation with the competitors. Plus, you can take part in a championship of your own in the daily Cool Shots competitions, playing the tabletop version of the roaring game, with cash prizes at stake. And, if you don’t pick up all the autographs in the Patch, the athletes will be on hand to sign on the line and pose for photos at Team Autograph sessions in the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. “You Gotta Be There” when Victoria hosts the very best in the game for the 2013 Ford World Men’s Curling Championship.
