Former CCA president Art Skinner passes away

A former Canadian Curling Association president and member of the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame has passed away.

Former CCA president Art Skinner passed away on Sept. 28.

Art Skinner, who before his death on Sept. 28 in Calgary was the oldest living past-president of the CCA, was 97. Prior to his term as CCA president for the 1964-65 season, he served as president of the Northern Alberta Curling Association in 1959-60. He would go on to represent Canada on the board of the International Curling Federation (the predecessor of the World Curling Federation) in the early 1970s, and was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 1976. Born and raised in Manitoba, Skinner served in World War II with the Royal Canadian Air Force before beginning his insurance career with Manulife.
