Ménard is a seven-time representative for Quebec at the Tim Hortons Brier. A victory over Glenn Howard in the gold-medal match of the 2006 Brier marked only the second time a Quebec team has won the Canadian men’s curling championship – and the first with a Francophone skip at the helm. Now his sights are set on an even bigger piece of curling history for “La belle province”, with the opportunity to lead the first Quebec curling team to the Olympic Games. Ménard, supported by teammates Martin Crête, Éric Sylvain and Philippe Ménard, finished 12th in Canadian Team Ranking System standings at the completion of last season to qualify for the Capital One Road to the Roar. Twelve teams of each gender will compete for the final four spots in the Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings, presented by Monsanto, Dec. 1-8 in the Winnipeg MTS Centre – where Canada will decide the men’s and women’s teams that will travel to Sochi, Russia for the 2014 Olympics. “You Gotta Be There” in the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex to see 24 teams take the next step toward the ultimate goal… and only four will emerge with their Olympic dreams still alive!
