Only 10 days left to help young athletes!
Can you imagine if you had to give up curling because you couldn’t afford it? What if Team Jones or Team Jacobs had to give up the sport they loved when they were at school? If you were a young curler at college or university, this could be your reality.
If we don’t help some athletes today, we could be losing future members of Team Canada. The Canadian Curling Association wants to make sure young athletes don’t have to make tough choices between their education and curling.
When you purchase a limited edition T-shirt – featuring the slogan
“Got Gold? We do.” – the proceeds from every shirt sold will go directly to a new scholarship fund set up by the Canadian Curling Association to help young athletes.
University and college is expensive enough. So how do you curl and balance schoolwork, and pay for it all? Where does the extra money come from for club fees, competition and travel costs? The CCA’s new scholarship fund will help young curlers with club fees, travel, and other curling related costs.
Shirts are being sold through a brand new crowd-sourcing platform, Tees For the People, to raise “start-up” funds for the scholarship. And, like all crowd-sourcing platforms, we must hit the goal to receive the much-needed funds for the scholarships.
We have already sold 150. But we need to sell 600 T-shirts by March 12.
When that goal is met, all orders will be processed and the scholarship fund will receive the proceeds. But if sales fall short, all orders will be cancelled and we won’t be able to hand out any scholarships this coming school year.
So please: buy a shirt and then tell your friends!
The more “Got Gold?” items the CCA can sell, the more future medallists you can help. When the CCA sells 600 shirts, six young curlers, and possible future champions, will receive a scholarship to help cover their curling-related costs for a year. 1,000 shirts means ten curlers could be helped.
