There also will be a trade show for curling vendors. Some of the keynote speakers for the Summit include TSN President Stewart Johnston as well as Brent Barootes, the president and CEO of the Partnership Group, a national sponsorship-consulting firm. As well, the Summit will be capped with the inaugural Swing and Sweep Golf Tournament at Thundering Waters Golf Club, a day that will include an evening dinner, silent and live auction — all to raise funds for junior curling and club development in Canada. Some of our Olympic curlers will be taking part, in addition to other celebrities. Look for announcements on notable participants in the next few weeks. “We’re very excited about our first Summit and the opportunity to get people talking about curling and how to make it even better,” said Canadian Curling Association Chief Executive Officer Greg Stremlaw. “All aspects of the sport are going to be discussed, from the grassroots to high performance, and the more voices, the more ideas, the better. As well, the golf tournament and other elements related to the For the Love of Curling charity planned during the summit will not only be a great social event, it will help support our junior curlers and curling facilities across Canada.” The Summit also will feature the induction of the Class of 2014 into the Canadian Curling Association Hall of Fame during the Hall of Fame and Awards Gala on Aug. 26.
