For Kelly Scott and her B.C. squad, it was an opportunity to overcome a disappointing loss Tuesday night to Team Canada – partly due to a picked rock in the tenth end – and climb closer to the leaders in the standings. For PEI’s Suzanne Birt, it was an opportunity to extend the winning streak that started in Draw 5 after three losses to start the round robin.
The four top teams at the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts faced off against one another on Wednesday afternoon at the K-Rock Centre in Kingston, Ont., fighting for position at the top of the standings. When the dust settled, it was Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones and Ontario’s Rachel Homan sharing the 7-0 record.

While Heather Nedohin’s Team Canada has been riding a wave of momentum, going 5-0 in the opening rounds of the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, B.C.’s Kelly Scott has been slowly working her way up in the standings, sitting 3-2 after a decisive 13-7 win over New Brunswick in afternoon play.
After a last-rock loss to Saskatchewan on Monday, Kristie Moore and her Alberta foursome from the Grande Prairie Curling Club hit the ice Tuesday afternoon looking for that elusive first win at the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

At the start of Draw 7, four undefeated teams sat at the top of the standings. When the rocks came to rest, there were only three, thanks to Suzanne Birt’s surging P.E.I. team, who earned a decisive 12-7 victory over Saskatchewan’s Jill Shumay in Monday night action at the K-Rock Centre in Kingston.
Alberta’s Kristie Moore came out firing on Monday afternoon, stealing the first end and keeping the pressure on undefeated Jill Shumay of Saskatchewan in Draw 6 action, but in the end it wasn’t enough.

Both Suzanne Birt of Prince Edward Island and Stacie Devereaux of Newfoundland and Labrador came into the fifth draw of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts round robin still looking for a win.
Rachel Homan and her Ontario squad of Emma Miskew, Alison Kreviazuk and Lisa Weagle remain undefeated at the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts after overpowering Kerry Galusha of the Northwest Territories/Yukon 9-2 in eight ends on Sunday afternoon at the K-Rock Centre in Kingston, Ont.
In 1979, The Lassie, sponsored by Macdonald Tobacco, celebrated its last Canadian Women’s Curling Championship, hosted in Montreal. This ended a sponsorship that began in 1972 (the company had sponsored the Men’s Championship, the Brier, since 1927).
In the first meeting of two former Scotties champions, Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones took control early and kept B.C.’s Kelly Scott chasing throughout a one-sided 10-4 game.
