B.C.’s Van Osch wins another to keep playoffs in sight

British Columbia’s Kesa Van Osch, fighting to stay in playoff contention, defeated Newfoundland and Labrador’s Heather Strong 7-3 in morning action at the 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

With playoffs looming, three teams – Canada, Saskatchewan and Manitoba – maintained their position at the top of the standings after wins in Draw 13 at the 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

 
A crowd-pleasing win for Flaxey at the Scotties

Ontario’s Allison Flaxey came into Draw 11 looking for her second win at the 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, and on Wednesday afternoon, Flaxey and her team of Katie Cottrill, Lynn Kreviazuk, Morgan Court, alternate Kim Tuck and coach Mort Cooper forced mistakes out of Alberta’s Val Sweeting to score a 7-5 victory in front of a noisy crowd at Maurice-Richard Arena.

 
Another win keeps Alberta close to leaders

With undefeated Team Canada sitting comfortably at the top of the standings, other teams at the 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts are beginning to line up behind the leaders – and that includes Val Sweeting of Alberta, who defeated Heather Strong of Newfoundland and Labrador 9-5 to stay close.
