Canada’s Glenn Howard drew for one point in a tense extra end to capture the Men’s World Curling Championship final in Basel, Switzerland on Sunday.
After a pick ruined a potentially winning draw in the tenth end, Glenn Howard drew the four foot in the eleventh to secure a 7-6 victory over Scotland in the Page 1-2 game and a ticket to the final of the 2012 World Men’s Curling Championship on Sunday.
After an extra-end loss – their first – to New Zealand on Thursday afternoon, Team Canada charged back against China with a strong 8-7 victory in the final game of round robin play at the 2012 World Men’s Curling Championship.
In a tense afternoon game at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland, Kiwi Peter de Boer pushed Canada to an extra end and handed Glenn Howard his first defeat of the tournament, and the first-ever win for New Zealand over Canada in a world championship.
Team Canada defeated Scotland in Wednesday evening action to cap another successful day at the 2012 World Men’s Curling Championship and assure itself a spot in the Page 1-2 game.
