In just two months the highly anticipated Season of Champions gets underway in Moose Jaw when the 2012 Capital One Canada Cup of Curling hits the ice in Mosaic Place – the impressive new sports and entertainment complex that has played an integral role in the rejuvenation of the city’s downtown district.
When Kaitlyn Lawes is on your curling team, good things tend to happen. The young vice-skip for Jennifer Jones’ Winnipeg quartet has been piling up successes on the pebbled ice for a decade now, winning a closetful of provincial and Team Canada jackets dating back to her first provincial title in 2002 when she won the Manitoba 13-and-under title.
It has been an exciting start to the curling season for our team this year. We have done lots of traveling already, and I am so thankful that one of my stops allowed me to have the opportunity
Jennifer Jones stepped on the ice for the championship game at last year’s Scotties Tournament of Hearts with visions of joining Nova Scotia’s Colleen Jones as the only skips to win four consecutive titles.
As I write this, the Scotties Tournament of Hearts is taking place in Charlottetown and I’ve been glued to the daily TV coverage. It’s been a dramatic week full of great stories and even better curling. Hard to look away!
