Lethbridge Welcomes the World: China Update

For someone who first took to the game less than a dozen years ago, Bingyu Wang has had a tremendous run of success on curling’s world stage. In 2008 at the Ford World Women’s Curling Championship in Vernon, B.C., she led China to a round-robin record of 9-2 and a silver medal finish. A year later in Gangneung, South Korea, she went one better, finishing preliminary play with a record of 10-1 and capping things off with an 8-6 victory over Sweden’s Anette Norberg in the gold medal game.

Lethbridge Welcomes the World: Italy Update

She’s 27 years young, she’s been curling for more than half her life and she’s represented Italy on the World stage over 20 times. She’s Diana Gaspari, and she will be making her eighth trip to the women’s worlds when she and her team of Giorgia Appolonio, Chiara Olivieri and Claudia Alvera head to Lethbridge in March. Italy utilizes a selection process in determining the makeup of the women’s teams which represent the country in international events.

Lethbridge Welcomes the World: Korea Update

Ji-Sun Kim will be one of the youngest skips in the field at the 2012 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship. The twenty-four year old will be making her second consecutive appearance at the championship when she takes to the ice in Lethbridge with her mates Seul-Bee Lee, Un-Chi Gim and Hyun-Jung Lee. Last year in Esbjerg, Denmark, the Koreans finished round-robin play with a record of 2 wins and 9 losses.

The 2012 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship will showcase the best female curling teams from around the globe, when competition gets underway at the ENMAX Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta in the middle of March.
