EDMONTON — Jeff Stoughton stole one in the 11th end Saturday to edge hometown favourite Kevin Martin of Alberta 5-4 in the second draw of the Tim Hortons Brier, presented by Monsanto.
The teams have now been confirmed for the 2013 World Financial Group Continental Cup, presented by Monsanto. The ninth edition of this unique international curling competition will take place from January 10-13 in Penticton, Canada at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
The Tim Hortons Brier bronze-medal playoff game nobody wanted to play turned out to be a crowd-pleaser for 6,685 at the John Labatt Centre on Sunday afternoon.
The clash of Canadian curling titans was everything it promised to be and unfortunately for Alberta’s Kevin Martin, just a tad less.
It was all about the drama of Northern Ontario’s survival effort – a TV episode of a reality show that required a lot of things to happen for Brad Jacob’s Soo crew to endure … with a little help from his curling friends.
