Brad Gushue went undefeated in capturing the 2012 Newfoundland and Labrador Tankard in playdowns which ran from February 8 – 11 at the Carol Curling Club in Labrador City.

Like every curling club across Canada at the beginning of the season, the St. John’s Curling Club in Newfoundland holds a new curler clinic. This is where our story begins.
It all started, so the story goes, when a young man named James Baird (later to be the Hon. J. Baird, member of the Legislative Council) cleared space on Quidi Vidi Lake to play the first curling game ever seen in St. John’s. The year was 1844.
