Four days. Six hours in the classroom. Six hours at fitness practice. Twelve hours on the ice. One dance and one massive team shoot out.
It might be the middle of a heat wave in central Alberta, but the ice is in at the Leduc Curling Club and over 200 kids are ready to curl!
A group of elite Canadian curlers took time out of their busy competitive schedules last week to participate in the 12th annual The Dominion SCI Ontario Curling Classic bonspiel in support of Spinal Cord Injury Ontario, raising over $116,000 and demonstrating once again how enthusiastically curlers embrace opportunities to “give back.”
They may have come into the final as the underdog, but Manitoba’s Meghan Armit took advantage of some key misses by Ontario to defeat Jodi McCutcheon by a score of 8-6.
The top two teams in the Women’s draw of The Dominion Curling Club Championship will face off for the title Saturday afternoon in Richmond, B.C.
