«Drôle de destination pour le curling, non?» dit Dustin Mikush, jeune joueur de 14 ans, un natif de Wadena, Sask., qui vient justement de rentrer de Tempe, Arizona, où il a essayé la glace du club de curling communautaire des Coyotes.
“Weird curling destination, eh?” says Dustin Mikush, a 14-year-old curler from Wadena, Sask., who recently travelled to Tempe, Ariz., to try out the ice at the local Coyotes Curling Club.
Finding revenue beyond membership fees is a concept that is sometimes forgotten when it comes to curling clubs. Corporate partnerships are great ways to find secondary sources of revenue, an opportunity that many clubs are missing out on.
Boy grows up in a small Saskatchewan town and, of course, learns to curl at the local rink. Boy moves to big city, where he completes university, lands a job as an ice tech and, eventually, becomes a curling club general manager. Boy, all grown up now, moves back home to raise his young family. Where does he head? Straight to the local curling club, of course.
