After 15 years, the Ford World Women’s Curling Championship is returning to Saint John, New Brunswick on March 15 – 23, 2014. “Saint John hosted a highly successful World Championship here in 1999,” commented the CCA’s Chief Executive Officer, Greg Stremlaw. “Our sincere thanks to the World Curling Federation for our exceptional partnership in hosting events in Canada, and of course to the City of Saint John and Province of New Brunswick for their efforts to facilitate this major event coming to this historically rich community.”
Team Saskatchewan, skipped by Jason Ackerman, won the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Sudbury back in the fall of 2011. The team opted to split up and play off for the right to represent Canada in Turkey at the 2012 World Mixed Doubles Championship, held from April 23-29, 2012.
The City of Victoria, British Columbia has been awarded the 2013 Ford World Men’s Curling Championship, it was confirmed today in a joint announcement by the World Curling Federation (WCF) and the Canadian Curling Association (CCA).
There’s only one way to describe the experience of championship curling – it’s simply fantastic! In the curling world, a unique relationship exists between the athletes and fans with ongoing interaction throughout the competition.
How important is an undefeated record at the Ford World men’s curling championship? “It’s still nice to beat all the teams here so we’re not going to let anything down, we’re going to keep playing hard,” said Canada’s Jeff Stoughton
