The All-Star team and Sportsmanship Award winner for the 2012 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Sudbury were officially announced and presented with their awards Saturday evening at the Closing Banquet.
Saskatchewan, skipped by Jason Ackerman of Regina, stole its way to an 8-7 extra end victory over Alberta (Kurt Balderston of Grande Prairie) in the 49th edition of the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, Saturday at the Sudbury Curling Club.
Saskatchewan, skipped by Jason Ackerman of Regina, advanced to the final of the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship at the Sudbury Curling Club, after defeating New Brunswick’s Sylvie Robichaud of Moncton, 8-3 in Friday’s semi-final.
Alberta, skipped by Kurt Balderston of Grande Prairie, has advanced to Saturday afternoon’s final (1:30 pm ET) of the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, after completing the round robin in first place with an 11-2 mark.
While the final three games of the round robin at the 49th Canadian Mixed in Sudbury would not affect the playoff scenarios, play was spirited in Draw 19 this morning.
Sylvie Robichaud of Curling Beausejour in Moncton grabbed the final playoff spot at the Canadian Mixed curling championship in Sudbury.
