The primary goal of Rock ‘n’ August is to continue to contribute to Diabetes research and education. The goal for this year’s event was to bring over $125,000 for research to doctors and researchers who specialize in this disease that affects one in four Canadians.
The St. Albert Curling Club and the World Financial Group Continental Cup joined together to enter a float at the Rainmaker Rodeo Parade.
ST. ALBERT, Alberta, December 2, 2009…The Canadian Curling Association (CCA) and the World Curling Federation (WCF) today announced that the 2011 World Financial Group Continental Cup, presented by Monsanto, has been awarded to St. Albert, Alberta.
Team World evened the score with North America, at three wins apiece, by taking the sixth Continental Cup, presented by Monsanto, 208-192.
Team World now stands just eight points away from victory at the 2008 edition of the Continental Cup, presented by Monsanto.
In a night filled with controversy, North America stormed back into contention at the Continental Cup, presented by Monsanto, closing a 38-point gap to just 14, heading into Sunday’s two final Skins games.
Team World regained any momentum it may have lost in the morning’s Skins games by taking 22 of 32 available points in this afternoon’s Singles competition to increase its lead to 119-81 over North America at the sixth Continental Cup, presented by Monsanto.
The final weekend of the Continental Cup, presented by Monsanto, kicked off in dramatic fashion with three wild finishes in the 20-point Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Skins games Saturday morning at the Edgeworth Centre, resulting in North America closing the gap on Team World to 97-71.
