Dear Canadian Juniors Parents,
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you and your team in becoming a provincial or territory representative at the upcoming Canadian Junior Curling Championships in Fort McMurray Alberta.
The Fort McMurray Host Committee is busy preparing to welcome you to the Wood Buffalo region. We hope to offer you a memorable opportunity of being a part of some great curling and spend some time in Canada’s oil sands capital.
Our Committee is pleased to offer great entertainment from across Canada, an opportunity to tour an oil sands plant and enjoy the amenities in our brand new world class MacDonald Island complex located at the confluence of two historic Rivers – the Athabasca and Clearwater.
A discounted hotel rate has been secured by our partners for players, coaches and guests booking for the event.
Parent Nights are always a big hit at the M&M Canadian Juniors. Three great evenings of fun (Monday – Wednesday) are planned all beginning at 9:30pm. Here is the schedule:
Monday, February 4
Western Canada (BC, AB, SK, YT & NT)
MacDonald Island Park, 2nd level Miskanaw Ballroom
Tuesday, February 5
Central Canada (MB, NO, ON, NU & QC)
MacDonald Island Park, 2nd level Miskanaw Ballroom
Wednesday, February 6
Atlantic Canada (NB, NS, PE & NL)
McMurray Newfoundlanders Club, 36 Riedel Street
In order to help facilitate Parent Nights, we are asking each team to declare a parent representative. This representative will be the main contact for the team for the appropriate parent night. We ask that this person fill out the attached parent representative form. Once all of the representatives have been declared, we will share email addresses between the teams who are hosting a night together. This will help with the organization of your night.
MacDonald Island Park and the Newfoundlanders Club are full service establishments and therefore preparing and bringing in outside food is not permitted. The parents are still responsible for the entertainment and hosting the event. Our wonderful hospitality staff takes care of the food and the clean-up for you. Menus will be provided to the parent representative and have been carefully selected to feature foods from regions across Canada at a very reasonable cost. I am pleased to share that sponsors have come forward to help offset the costs in hosting these events. Details to follow with the representative.
Our Host Committee has arranged for shuttle transportation to and from the venue to the hotel group for your convenience. Should you need assistance with equipment, please let us know the specifics.
The closing banquet for players, their families and friends is on Friday February 8 at 6pm at MacDonald Island Park. It is recommended that your tickets be purchased prior to your arrival because they sell out quickly. Tickets are on sale online Friday January 18th at the website below or available at MacDonald Island Park box office at 780-791-0070.
