Visitor Info “About Thunder Bay”

Welcome to Thunder Bay!

A Superior sports experience waits in Thunder Bay, whether you are an athlete coming to compete or a spectator coming to be entertained.

Thunder Bay is a place “where athletes come to play” and a community that strives to offer a first-class experience for all its sports visitors.

Thunder Bay is one of Canada’s Greatest Outdoor Adventure Cities with the world’s largest freshwater lake, Lake Superior, at our doorstep, and a Giant, the Sleeping Giant, that is 1380 feet above sea level.

The new waterfront development, Prince Arthur’s Landing is definitely a must see. Other major attractions include Fort William Historical Park – the historical fur trade post and Kakabeka Falls described as the Niagara of the North. The Thunder Bay Museum and the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame are two venues you may want to visit that are located in the downtown south core close to the Fort William Curling Club.
