Biography / Biographie:

Yvonne Smith was nominated to become a member of the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 1996.

During her curling career, she represented Ontario at Canadian Championships 10 times. Smith curled in the Canadian Mixed in 1978 and 1979 (runner-up), followed by two appearances at the Scott Tournament of Hearts (1984 and 1989) with the Jill Greenwood team. In 1984, she won the Marj Mitchell Sportsmanship Award.

In the Seniors ranks, Smith won Ontario six times with Jill Greenwood. In the six appearances, the team won four Canadian Championships (1990, 1993, 1996 and 1998). They also had a runner-up and third place finish.

Smith retired in 2000 to a coaching career with such notables as Alison Goring, among others.

In addition, Smith founded and administered (over a span of 25 years) the Women’s Major League in the Greater Toronto Area.
