Do you know a deserving young student curler?
Are you a student who could you use some help covering your academic and curling costs next year?
Thanks to the incredible support of the curling community, ten scholarships are available again this year for young elite curlers.
The application process for the “For the Love of Curling” scholarships is now open to talented young curlers who will be or are continuing to study at a Canadian University of College. These scholarships were funded by generous donors and curlers across the country.
Last year, ten deserving young people received a scholarship to help them balance the demands of curling, school and work. Some of the 2014-2015 scholarship recipients went on to compete in the 2015 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, 2015 CIS/CCA University Curling Championships, and the 2015 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Curling Canada received close to 100 applications and a volunteer committee had the difficult task of narrowing it down to just ten.
Each scholarship will provide $1,000 to help university or college athletes cover some of their education and curling costs. A total of ten scholarships are available for the 2015-2016 academic year.
Please read the Eligibility and FAQ 2015 before applying.
Emphasis will be placed on athletes who have competed at the provincial/territorial level or higher; who have maintained a high level of academic standing; while showing a commitment to curling through their involvement in coaching, instructing and/or volunteer activities. Athletes must be under the age of 23 and not have received the “For The Love Of Curling” Scholarship last year.
The application process runs from May 1 to June 30, 2015. Scholarships will be awarded in August.
